A luxury floating hotel is set to open in Bahrain this fall and is being seen as a potential test run in advance of the Qatar World Cup in 2022.

With scarce land mass, floating hotels have been lobbied about as the best viable solution to accommodating tens of thousands of soccer fans who will take to the region in 2022.

Set to be built on an old house boat, the five-star C-Hotel will be docked at Coral Bay in Manama, with standard rooms featuring a dining area, big screen TV, writing desk, and integrated smart technologies.

The $5 million project will include 14 rooms and two suites with balconies which will be outfitted with Italian-made furnishings.

The developer’s target market? Affluent visitors passing through the area for events like the Formula One.
