Smart has unveiled a new lightweight concept electric vehicle, set to debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show later this month.
The Smart Forvision, developed in conjunction with BASF, is designed to showcase the materials that could be used to make electric cars more efficient in the future.
One of the most striking features is a roof formed of transparent solar cells, which allows the car to generate enough energy from daylight to power the multimedia components and climate control fans inside the vehicle.

Mercedes Benz on Wednesday unveiled a chocolate-themed version of its Smart car in Tokyo, just a couple of weeks before Valentine’s Day.
In Japan, there’s a tradition which says that women have to buy chocolate for men on this occasion.
Designed by designer Tadaaki Wakamutsu of Japanese luxury jeweler/chocolatier Q-Pot, the unique Smart city car features a special chocolate-themed paint scheme.

German automakers BMW and Mercedes-Benz have released details on the electric scooter concepts they plan to unveil at the Paris Motor Show next week.
The scooters, which will be presented by BMW and Mercedes-Benz under the MINI and Smart brands respectively, are hints at the direction both companies could take with electric mobility in the future.
MINI’s Scooter E effort is based on the current production MINI cars, with 11-inch wheels and a “powerful and robust appearance,” which, combined with the large, round front light and radiator grill, evokes the MINI four wheelers.

London-based designer rolf sachs as teamed up with Smart car for a special presentation in zona tortona during milan design week 2010.
He used his unique splashing and marking technique as an unusual means of expression to create an enthusiastic and lively look with fine splashes of colour.
Each sprinkle comes with a range of fun accessories that can be attached to the magnetic dashboard.

Colette and smart collection has been created especially for the urban car brand.
Colette selected five designer labels, from Paris, New York, Berlin and the new smart markets of Brazil and Denmark, and asked them to design an exclusive product for smart.
The designers took as their inspiration the themes of urban mobility or design and all products are linked by the theme of “design meets sustainability”.


It’s the year of electric cars at the Geneva auto show.
