The 2016 edition of Art Basel Miami will feature a collection of early Jean-Michel Basquiat works shown by one of its exhibitors between November 30 and December 4.

The X Contemporary stream takes place during Art Basel’s annual Miami Beach event and, under its auspices, Bishop Gallery in Brooklyn will bring a collection of Basquiat paintings, collages and drawings for viewing to the Nobu Hotel in the Florida city.

Up until the Nobu Hotel showing, they will have been seen “by a handful of individuals,” Art News quotes X Contemporary as saying.

Born to a Haitian father and Puerto Rican mother in Brooklyn, New York, Basquiat died age 27 in 1988, having established himself as a sought-after visual artist at the vanguard of neo-expressionism.

High school friend and early collaborator Al Diaz curates the exhibit.
