Marc Jacobs has taken a bold new step, handing over creative control of his Marc by Marc Jacobs diffusion line to a new creative director and a women’s ready-to-wear design director for the first time in the brand’s 13-year history.

Katie Hillier was appointed first as creative director, and immediately hired Luella Bartleyas design director for the label. Bartley, a former fashion writer, was head of the successful ‘Luella’ from 2001 until it closed in 2009, during which time the brand became a favorite of London it-girls Alexa Chung and the late Amy Winehouse.
