Macau is set to become home to a strikingly dramatic luxury hotel designed by British architect Zaha Hadid that involves voids and negative spaces cut out of the 40-story building, enveloped in a latticed or ‘exoskeletal’ shell.

Artist renderings reveal an expressive and powerful design: Hadid pushes the boundaries of structural engineering to reimagine the standard monolithic rectangular block with voids and negative space carved out of the building’s center, using soft, curved lines.

The building shell has an exoskeleton design, a motif that’s repeated inside with 3D diamonds and pyramids that seem to grow from the interior walls and into the spacious, atrium space.

The tower will become the fifth property developed by Melco Crown Entertainment and feature meeting and event facilities, gaming rooms, a bright, airy lobby atrium, restaurants, spa and sky pool.
