Justine Blau examines the incredible relationship between people and space

Jul 26, 2014 | By Staff Writer

If we were to climb to the very top of the highest skyscraper and observe the streets below, we would see the most carefully choreographed dance of people. In crowds, people dodge left and right, walk fast and slow, sprint or stop at different times, creating an intriguing aesthetic of how people move through space. In Crowd 1, Justine Blau captures the incredible relationship between people and space. It is a virtual collage depicting human crowds and their admittedly random nature. Some shots demonstrate uniformity, while others demonstrate clumping or scatter. Her website states “The photographed silhouettes are removed from their true social context to form fictive gatherings.”
