The flamboyant hat worn by Princess Beatrice at last month’s royal wedding has been sold for the princely sum of £81,100 on internet auction site eBay.
Proceeds from the sale of the hat, designed by Irish milliner Philip Treacy, will be split between two charities: the United Nations Children’s Fund, UNICEF, and British charity Children in Crisis.
The princess, the oldest daughter of Prince Andrew and a granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth II, provided one of the most memorable moments of a dramatic day when she stepped out in the eccentric headwear, likened to a giant pretzel.

Kate Middleton wore a stunning ivory and lace wedding dress Friday by Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen, her face covered lightly with a hand-embroidered veil held by a tiara lent by the queen.
Smiling broadly and waving to the cheering crowd, the 29-year-old also clutched a bouquet of flowers that included Sweet William. Her bridegroom showed his appreciation by mouthing to her: “You look beautiful.”
Burton, the 36-year-old creative director of the fashion house Alexander McQueen, had long been tipped for the commission, but palace officials had remained tight-lipped right up until the moment Kate stepped out of the car.

When guests clink glasses in honor of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s nuptials on Friday, they’ll be sipping on Pol Roger bubbly, a champagne maker with a long history of serving British aristocracy.
According to UK wine magazine Decanter, they have it “on the highest authority” that the couple has chosen the family-owned winery to be the official champagne provider at their wedding. They also specifically requested a non-vintage.
Three hundred guests will toast with the champagne bubbly right before the sit-down meal hosted by Prince Charles, the magazine reports.

Gold embossed invitations to the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton have been sent out to 1,900 guests.
Gilded invitations issued in the name of Queen Elizabeth II began dropping onto doormats this week after being sent out on Wednesday and Thursday, with the monarch’s EIIR cypher die-stamped in gold.
While names of the guests were not released, the list of dignitaries due to attend the wedding on April 29 is likely to meet Kate’s expectations that marrying into the royal family would amount to “quite a daunting prospect.”

“Yes, I want to declare, I will make the wedding dress,” Armani confirmed to reporters after his fashion show in Milan on Sunday.
Former Olympic swimmer Charlene attended Armani’s shows in Italy in 2008 and 2009 and often wears the designer’s clothes to events.

The official engagement photos of Prince William and Kate Middleton released on December 12 caused a flurry of media interest.
Of particular interest was the white Reiss dress that Middleton wore. Capitalizing on the frenzy, the label announced on Monday that it will re-release the dress.
The “Nannette” dress, which retails for $325, will re-launch in stores next month.
The simple, belted number with a ruffle detail across the front is actually from the fall 2010 collection, so it can no longer be found at any Reiss boutique.
