Cassina LC5 Sofa

Luxury brand Cassina will be unveiling its new LC5 sofa, a re-edition of the design by Le Corbusier, at this year’s Salone del Mobile design fair in Milan.

Le Corbusier designed this large sofa with Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand for the living room of his Parisian apartment in 1934. It was first re-edited by Cassina in 1974 in one single size with a chrome frame.

The latest re-edition has been redeveloped with new finishes and larger proportions compared to this first edition, in collaboration with the Le Corbusier Foundation.

The backrest, which continues down to the base of the frame, and the large cushions, padded with feathers, favor a more comfortable seat.

The metal frame, with its contemporary and immediately recognizable form, is now available in the seven colors of the collection, including shiny chromed metal or glossy basalt, grey, light blue, green, burgundy and ochre varnish, and matte black varnish.

The piece is available as a two-seater or a three-seater. The LC5 will be displayed at Salone del Mobile, which runs April 8-13.
