World of Watches magazine: WOW Festive Issue brings us gold and enamelling for the new year

The WOW Festive issue, now available on stands, celebrates the timelessness of watches and watchmaking

WOW’s Festive issue has hit the newsstands, fronted by Montblanc’s 1858 Chronograph Tachymeter Limited Edition in bronze. The watch is a throwback to Minerva military chronographs of yore, and perfectly encapsulates the Maison’s ability to meld past and future with its modern interpretation of a classic design.

Two anchor features kick things off inside – one centres on proprietary gold blends being used today, while the other takes an in-depth look into the art of enamelling. Celebrations of technical and artistic savoir-faire aside, follow us as we trace the origins and evolution of two modern classics, the Rolex Cosmograph Daytona and the Patek Philippe Nautilus, before kicking back with a couple of photo spreads for some visual stimulation. One showcases timepieces with extreme concepts that have literally become larger than life, while the other goes hands-free with mechanical watches sporting digital displays.

As a preview to our annual Geneva Report, the Festive issue also reveals – and reviews – the pre-SIHH highlights from Cartier, Roger Dubuis, and other brands that will be unveiling their novelties in Geneva later this month. Finally, we round things up with conversations with several CEOs, including TAG Heuer’s Jean-Claude Biver, HYT’s Grégory Dourde, and DeLaCour’s Alfred Terzibachian.

Editor of WOW, Ashok Soman, says, “Timelessness is a quality we recognize in the best timepieces and it is something we’ve chosen to celebrate in the Festive issue. It takes savoir-faire to create a watch that can withstand the ravages of time, and we have explored two of them here – the arts of metallurgy and enamelling. As usual, the sheer breadth of topics covered elsewhere in the issue will make this a rewarding read for any watch lover, whatever his interests.”

Olivier Burlot, CEO and Publisher, added, “Media titles, like watch models, prove and elevate themselves over time. WOW celebrated its 15th anniversary in 2016 and has firmly established itself as a classic within Singapore’s media landscape. We look forward to closer collaborations with our overseas editions, and our business partners, to continue bringing cutting edge content to a targeted audience.”
