H. Moser & Cie. Endeavour Perpetual Moon Takes Us to the Dark Side

The unmistakable style of H. Moser & Cie. is haute horlogerie at its purest

For a good number of years, H. Moser & Cie. has been synonymous with minimalism. It is embracing this austere aesthetic at full force with the newest watch of the fold. The H. Moser & Cie. Endeavour Perpetual Moon Concept presents the phases of the moon in such a characteristically understated way. Doing away with branding and indices on the dial, the watch paints an image of a moon shining through the quiet sky. A deeper understanding further reveals an extraordinary aspect to the mysterious allure of the piece.

As a matter of fact, the clean look on the dial is due to a coating of Vantablack – a high-tech material made of light-absorbing carbon nanotubes. The result is a visage that is exceptionally black. According to H. Moser & Cie., Vantablack “holds the world record as the darkest man-made substance”. The technology stimulates such darkness that it virtually hides any form of visible texture, forming an abyss-like illusion, or in this case, an interplanetary space that makes the moon and the hands appear to be floating weightlessly.

Just as appealing is the 5N red gold version that features the midnight-blue fumé dial. Its deep hues with twilight hues are perfectly matched with the warm tone of the case. A brown alligator leather strap adds the finishing touch.

In addition to the contemporary and bold design, H. Moser & Cie. couples these poetic timepieces with precise in-house movements. The moon phase complication, in addition to Moser’s interchangeable escapement, is an extremely accurate display that can be set, read and predicted to within a minute. The system can be easily adjusted using a push-button on the side of the case. The Endeavour Perpetual Moon Concept’s intricate wheel train portrays this interval so precisely that the gap is a mere 0.23 seconds per day. That is to say, it only deviates by one day every 1027.30 years, making it the most precise model available.

The H. Moser & Cie. Endeavour Perpetual Moon Concept is technically complex, unconditionally elegant, and a worthy representation of the finest watchmaking traditions.
