When I last met with Davide Cerrato Managing Director Of Montblanc Watches, it was in Miami during the launch of their Heritage watch collection for members of the exclusive 4810 Club in 2019. At the time, the star of the preview was the Heritage Pulsograph Limited Edition 100 by virtue of its appealing “salmon” dial, as well as distinctive decorative touches like sand-graining and bent hour, minute and seconds hands across a domed dial. This year, for Watches & Wonders 2020, the beloved domed salmon dial with fine details like applied dot indexes and graining adjacent the minute track.

Editor’s Note: Watches & Wonders 2020 has been cancelled but the novelties are still categorised for the year’s watch fair which was meant to take place in April

Paying tribute to historical and classic Minerva wristwatches from the 1940s and 1950s, the  new Heritage Monopusher Chronograph Limited Edition for Watches & Wonders 2020 combines the elegance of watchmaking with the “neo-dandy” penchant for sartorial details like grey Sfumato alligator leather strap and aesthetic finesse of

The cocktail of vintage design elements, distinctive hues and a rare, affordable, monopusher chronograph complication with all the stylish gorgeousness of last year’s limited edition handcrafted-by-Minerva Pulsograph now available in an eminently pocket-friendlier Montblanc Heritage Monopusher Chronograph equipped with a Sellita based chronograph movement.

Indeed, this latest limited edition Monopusher chronograph looks like the pinnacle of Montblanc CEO Nicolas Baretzki’s strategy of offering its consumers accessibility to fine watchmaking codes as a strategy for inducting newcomers into the Montblanc family of luxury consumer goods; Cerrato has ably provided the maison’s most compelling reason yet: high horology details like a domed salmon dial with grainé hour ring and sunray finishes and blued baton second- and 30-minute chronograph counter-hands, blued bent baton 60-second central chronograph hand, complete with historical Montblanc logo.

The 42mm case of the Montblanc Heritage Monopusher Chronograph Limited Edition for Watches & Wonders 2020 follows its predecessor, presenting its resplendent face under a domed box-shaped AR-coated sapphire crystal. Though the caseback bears the Minerva Manufacture engraving, it does not come with the famed Minerva monopusher calibre with signature “devil’s tail” flourish, instead it’s a Swiss automatic Montblanc caliber MB 25.12 (base Sellita topped with a Minerva chronograph complication) featuring a flat hairspring and flat hoop balance.
