For the ignoramus, Wallich Residence was named after Mr Nathaniel Wallich, whose passion for botany led to the establishment of Singapore’s premier Botanical and Experimental Garden at Fort Canning. Did you know where Wallich Residence sits today was a hill overlooking a bay? However, it no longer exists today. The hill was flattened for Singapore’s first major reclamation project starting around the 1880s — its soil taken to fill Telok Ayer Basin. Today, Singapore’s Central Business District (CBD) is bustling on the soil taken from Mount Wallich.

Wallich Residence situated in Singapore’s CBD contains 181 prestigious homes which offer stunning city views. In truth, Wallich Residence is undeniably Singapore’s tallest building at 290 metres. Designed by world-renowned Skidmore, Ownings & Merrill, they are the same architects who designed One World Trade Centre in New York (2014), Trump Tower (2009), Burj Khalifa (2010), and Willis Tower (1973) to name a few.

Wallich Residence accommodates domiciles, office space, retail, and F&B outlets, as well as a five-star business hotel Sofitel City Centre. This unique five-in-one concept devised by Skidmore, Ownings & Merrill is a testament to their urban planning visionary. The firm created some of the world’s famous mixed-use buildings in cities like San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Hong Kong.

For the residential units, there are 181 homes in this luxurious project of which 75 of them are three-bedroom units starting at sizes of 1,098 square feet, making them the majority. The remaining comprises 69 units of one- and two-bedroom suites, 32 units of four-bedroom suites, and five penthouses (including one super penthouse). If you’re lazy to drive to work, there’s Tanjong Pagar MRT situated right under the building.

When it comes to pleasure pursuits, one can take a splash in the infinity pool located at Level 39, or the Social 180. You can even indulge by relaxing in the Jacuzzi or get your heart rate pumped up by working out at the gymnasium. Homeowners can partake in barbequing at the grills provided and then tuck into their meals at several casual dining rooms. If you’re tired from socialising, Cloud 220 located at Level 52 is where a library, a theatrette, and a networking suite await you. Being on top of Singapore’s tallest tower also comes with privileges such as a priceless, bird’s-eye view of the city. These enviable vistas can be enjoyed from the Sky Gardens and the Viewing Deck, as well as the Viewing Deck at the Apex located at Level 62.

For a dose of nature, don’t forget to check out the double-storey urban park spanning some 150,000 square feet — a first of its kind in Singapore. Here, you can enjoy a breath of fresh air and take in the verdant landscaped garden.
