As the brainchild of global beauty brand Fresh, Lev Glazman and Alina Roytberg, and hospitality expert Damien Janowicz, the Maker Hotel along historic downtown Hudson, New York was inspired by the wide range of creativity present in the Hudson Valley. Established with an aim to bring bespoke experiences to both the close-knit upstate New York community and travelers alike, the Maker Hotel features work from local Hudson valley craftsmen, global artisans, one of kind vintage pieces and an extensive art collection that truly celebrates the world of creators.

Housing a limited selection of 11 uniquely-themed rooms, the Maker Hotel has brought bohemian sensibility to design. Showcasing a sophisticated curation of different time periods, the hotel presents eclectic design and unparalleled comfort in perfect harmony. Inspired by the world of distinct makers, the hotel’s four expansive maker studios are located within the historic Georgian Mansion building, each accommodating palatial living areas and intricate fireplaces.

Comprised of three separate volumes, this 14,000 sq.ft. hotel includes a Greek revival-style property, a carriage house dating back to the early 1800s, and the Georgian mansion. With the help of new structural additions such as, a central courtyard filled with lush greenery and a “jewel box” conservatory, the Maker Hotel now extends its grounds to accommodate a main restaurant, bar, and culinary program, led by Executive Chef Michael Poiarkoff.

Bonding traditions of mindful cooking with elegant preparation, seasonal composition, and ethical sourcing, the restaurant serves seasonal plates with an emphasis on locality and community. Characterised by playful curiosity and a passion for sustenance, the kitchen cultivates relationships with a diverse array of dedicated Hudson Valley farms and purveyors that guide an evolving menu of Contemporary American fare.

Not far from there, and tucked away inside a restored 19th century carriage house with leather-clad walls & grand ceilings, the dedicated lounge area transports its guests to candle-lit corners by the hand carved fireplace, a seat at the captivating bar, or relishing the evening out on the patio. With a menu of its own, the lounge area offers guests an enticing selection of craft cocktails, wines, and local beers, alongside a tempting array of savoury plates.

Adorned with antiques and other bespoke decorative pieces made from combining salvaged objects, the Maker Hotel was largely designed by Glazman – Roytberg with special attention paid to refining guest experience. Through incorporating as many original features as possible, the team sought to preserve the ornate fireplaces, hand-painted ceilings, stained-glass windows and tiled mosaic flooring that already existed across the three buildings.
