Riva launched the 88’ Folgore’ in a spectacular, colourful ceremony at its La Spezia shipyard, which specialises in the production of 76-110ft models, from the 76’ Bahamas and 76’ Perseo to the 110’ Dolcevita, the brand’s flagship until the launch of the 50Metri (161ft) last year.

The Folgore, which means ‘lightning’, is the flagship of Riva’s Sportfly range and also the brand’s first launch since the Covid-19 pandemic struck.

Despite the complications that affected production across Italy and the fact the Ferretti Group only resumed full operations recently, Riva 88’ Folgore was completed on deadline, providing another reason for celebration.

Alberto Galassi, CEO of Ferretti Group, said: “Riva 88’ Folgore looks like a vessel just back from a journey into the future. She is a dazzling flash of style, she is strength, she is performance, she is innovation.

“The launch of the first new model in 2020 represents a new renaissance for the Ferretti Group, which restarts from Riva, a brand becoming more and more a contemporary myth, the essence of Made in Italy and a tangible sign of a country that starts again.”

Like all recent Rivas, the 88’ Folgore is a design collaboration between Officina Italiana Design – the studio founded by Mauro Micheli and Sergio Beretta – and Ferretti Group’s Product Strategy Committee headed by engineer Piero Ferrari and Engineering Department.

The sporty exterior is inspired by the automotive world and features advanced materials such as carbon with traditional elements such as mahogany inlays and steel decorations.

Features include a garage door that swings down and can be positioned parallel to the waterline, creating a 6sqm beach club, or immersed to allow the launch and landing of the tender.

The 22sqm cockpit features a huge sofa area with a table and also a bar unit with electrically opening marble top. Another interesting element feature is the glass hardtop, which opens up and can be tilted toward both the stern and bow, to let in fresh air during navigation or when at anchor.

The interiors feature a mix of wood, steel, marble and glass, while layout options include a choice of three designs for the master cabin. Guest accommodation also includes a VIP cabin in the bow and two double cabins, all with ensuite bathrooms. The galley remains separate, with a dedicated entrance to ensure service privacy.

Riva is a brand of Ferretti Group along with Ferretti Yachts, Pershing, Itama, Mochi Craft, CRN, Custom Line and Wally. The Group owns and manages six shipyards across Italy, and has a network of about 60 dealers and customers in over 70 countries around the world.
