Once upon a time, 300 horsepower was plenty; the Ford Mustang GT, Subaru WRX STi and Chevrolet Camaro SS among the muscle cars of this club. Then came the 500 horsepower club, prominently featuring Japanese “Godzilla” Nissan GT-R, the Jaguar F-Type R Convertible and the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio, these cars were borderline insane until the 700 horse supercar arrived on the scene, counting the Ferrari 488 Pista, Lamborghini Aventador S, Aston Martin DBS Superleggera, and the McLaren Senna. It’s gotten to the point that 800 horsepower isn’t exactly eye-raising anymore. But when a 950 horsepower hybrid super comes out of Slovenia, we take notice.

Slovenian Tushek Company has just released the TS 900 Apex 950 horsepower hybrid supercar

Founded by Aljoša Tushek, a Slovenia racer who began racing go-carts and motorbikes and winning the Alpe Adria Cup three years in a row since he was 14 years old, Tushek Company is the latest maker of brain-melting supercars. The former Citroen Xsara N-Group racer used his experience in race cars to build his own supercar, beginning with the TS 500 Renovatio in 2008 and then following up with the TS 600, ranked fourth among the Top 10 Supercars of 2014 and today, the TS 900 Apex hybrid supercar with 950 horsepower.

The critical success of the 450 horsepower Tushek TS600 encouraged Aljoša and his team to take their ‘moonshot’  and create the ultimate hypercar. After a lot of research, testing and new radical approaches, stemming from Aljosa’s unique racing experience and feel of the car, the work of five years has led to the Tushek TS900 Apex – a technological revolution on 4 wheels, showcasing real-world use of new technologies.

The resulting hybrid TS900 Apex supercar with beastly 950 horsepower and a staggering 1,032 lb-ft of torque takes many conventional ideas on what defines a supercar and turns them on their heads. The aggressive sportive exterior adds new dimension to the aerodynamics and when combined with its ultra-light weight (the lightest hybrid supercar on the market at 3,100 pounds), the thrust to weight ratio is unrivalled, completing its century spring (0-100 kmh) in 2.5 seconds with a maximum speed of 236 mph. At press time, Tushek declined to list the technology incorporated into its drive train except to say that a host of “patent protected solutions which allows super car extreme performance”.

The Tushek TS 900 Apex will debut at the 14th edition of Salon Privé Concours d’Elégance taking place from 5th to 8th September
