Ralph Lauren is once again dressing the country’s athletes, ahead of next year’s winter Olympics and Paralympics in Sochi, Russia.
Hot on the heels of the unveiling of the French uniforms created by Lacoste, comes the first peek at the designs by all-American fashion label Ralph Lauren for the United States Olympic Committee.
A dynamic mix of patriotic references in a classic color palette of red, white and navy defines the Ralph Lauren 2014 Team USA Opening Ceremony uniform, which is Made in America.
The uniform features a meticulously knit patchwork cardigan highlighted with handcrafted details and emblazoned with stars and spirited graphics.
The Cardigan will be paired with a cream cotton turtleneck sweater, slim-fitting white fleece athletic pants, sporty black leather boots with red laces and a cotton belt accented with jacquard tape featuring patriotic graphics.
There’s also a video which shows off the brand’s commitment to design, source, and manufacture the pieces in the United States, working with 40 partners across the country from Oregon to New York City.
Team USA’s Olympic and Paralympic woolen items were produced with sheep’s wool from a 142-year-old ranch in Oregon.
The 6,250 pounds of Oregon wool were spun into 5,625,000 yards of yarn in Pennsylvania, which was in turn dyed in North Carolina, and then transported to California where it went into the 650 uniforms for Team USA and the 65,000 items of clothing manufactured for the games.
The Ralph Lauren 2014 Team USA Collection will be available from November 15 on RalphLauren.com and TeamUSAShop.com.
