Givenchy Teams Up With Chito to Auction 15 NFTs
Givenchy is the latest luxury brand to jump on the NFT hype, with 15 rare collectable NFTs.
Givenchy joins the list of luxury brands releasing NFTs as it partners up with graphic artist, Chito to create a series of 15 collectable NFTs.
Givenchy’s creative director, Matthew Williams, previously collaborated with Chito for Givenchy’s Spring/Summer 2022 collection. The collection featured Chito’s signature airbrushed characters to the clothing and accessories.
Now, Williams and Chito reveal the next part of their collaboration by bringing these illustrations to the metaverse. A rare set of 15 NFT graphic designs. The NFTs can be used by collectors as online avatars or profile pictures as an expression of digital fashion.
Speaking on the collaboration, Williams said: “I’ve been wanting to explore this new and exciting space for NFTs. The fact that Chito is already active in the ecosystem made it feel more natural for us to collaborate on this limited series and bring our collective vision for Givenchy even further.”
The Chito x Givenchy NFTs will go on sale on OpenSea on November 23rd. After seven days, the highest bidder offer will be accepted and bidders will receive their NFTs. A portion of the proceeds from the sale will go to The Ocean Cleanup, Givenchy’s “long-preferred foundation”.
According to the press release, the NFTs will live on the Polygon network, a blockchain that uses less energy than its competitors.
Another luxury brand that has hopped on the NFT bandwagon is Louis Vuitton with its NFT game for its 200-year anniversary celebration called “Louis the Game”. The player controls the protagonist, Vivienne, to collect 200 candles in the game to commemorate the birthday of Louis Vuitton.
Guerlain also released NFTs as part of its annual exhibition in partnership with the International Contemporary Art Fair. The NFTs were offered for sale until November 15 on the Drouot auction house website. According to Guerlain, all proceeds from the sale will be donated to the GoodPlanet Foundation to finance the creation of a laboratory garden for regenerative agriculture.
