We Make Carpets

Intricate “carpets” made from Everyday Objects

Oct 11, 2014 | By Staff Writer

Contrary to their name, Dutch design trio “We Make Carpets” do not actually make carpets. Instead, Marcia Nolte, Stijn van der Vleuten and Bob Waardenburg have taken to creating intricate temporary carpet, or floor arrangements, from everyday objects- using everything from crayons to fireworks to cocktail umbrellas and even plastic forks.  The carpet designs take reference from traditional carpet designs and motifs that are presented by their innovative use of these found objects. From a distance, the creations look like regular decorative carpets. However, the medium used to form these floor arrangements are only revealed upon closer inspection.
