Timed to coincide with the 80th anniversary of the design house’s jewel collections, Jewelry by Chanel is a comprehensive tome that presents creations by Gabrielle Chanel. Published by Thames and Hudson, it came out earlier this week.

Penned by author, publisher and literary critic Patrick Mauriès, the book encompasses eight decades of jewelry creations, beginning in 1932 with Coco Chanel’s launch of the collection.

The volume sheds light on one of her lesser known pursuits that led to the creation of the jewelry collections which mix luxury, refinement, and playful designs.

The book includes numerous photographs and historical documents, some of them revealed for the first time to the general public.

Chanel feted its 80 anniversary of its ‘Bijoux de Diamants’ collection with a star-studded party Tuesday in New York.
