ONE°15 Marina Sentosa Cove in Singapore has completed its S$7 million (about US$5.2 million) marina reconfiguration project. All new and relocated superyacht berths are now stern-to in front of the clubhouse, providing a spectacular view for members, guests and visitors.

While keeping the total number of berths at 272, the new layout increases the berths for 80ft-plus superyachts from 15 to 33 and increases the overall linear footage of yachts moored within the marina. Furthermore, the marina has a new channel with a minimum depth of 4.5m and can accommodate yachts up to 220ft (67m), while other changes include the relocation of Boaters’ Bar, Singapore’s only floating marina bar.

Arthur Tay, Chairman and CEO of SUTL Enterprise, which owns the ONE°15 Marina brand, said: “ONE°15 Marina Sentosa Cove is well on its way to becoming the region’s number one superyacht pit stop. One of the main objectives of the reconfiguration was to cater for the projected trend of increasing yacht sizes by significantly extending our marina’s berthing flexibility.”

The marina includes brand-new pontoons designed in Singapore and manufactured in France, as well as state-of-the-art service pedestals made of marine-grade anodised aluminium by Rolec Services in the UK. Other new features include a fuel-management mobile application, remote meter reading and automated billing services.

ONE°15 Marina Sentosa Cove opened in 2007

ONE°15 Marina Sentosa Cove has been established among Asia’s finest since it was inaugurated in 2007, when it secured 5 Gold Anchor certification, and in June 2019 it became Singapore’s first private marina to have a Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) facility. However, Tay said the reconfiguration was important as yacht sizes and needs had significantly changed.

“Our previous marina infrastructure had been pushed way beyond its original design parameters, given the trend of increasing yacht sizes and minimum power requirements over the past decade,” Tay said.

“With the marina experiencing close to full occupancy all year round, the reconfiguration project has been a challenging feat to pull off yet a necessary one for us to provide greater convenience to our existing customers and keep up with market demands.”

GROWING THE BRAND

As ONE°15 Marina’s first and flagship property, Sentosa Cove sets the benchmark for the brand around Asia and even globally, as the company operates the ONE°15 Marina Brooklyn in New York.

In Malaysia, across the Johor Strait from northwest Singapore, the brand operates ONE°15 Marina Puteri Harbour, which offers dual membership with the ONE°15 Estuari Sports Centre that opened last October. An ongoing redevelopment of a previous facility in the Iskandar Puteri waterfront, Puteri Harbour includes a public marina with 76 berths including three for superyachts.

Meanwhile, construction continues on Puteri Harbour’s private marina, which will feature 207 berths and 11 superyacht berths. The adjoining marina is scheduled to open in 2023 along with a clubhouse, hotel rooms, ballroom, restaurant, floating bar, conference and meeting rooms, a spa and fitness centre.

Also close to Singapore, ONE°15 Marina Nirup Island in Indonesia is scheduled to open in 2022. Located on a private island just 8nm south of Sentosa, the marina will have 70 berths including for superyachts, a clubhouse and sea sports centre, plus fuelling and bunkering services.

The marina will also benefit from neighbouring a five-star resort featuring hotel rooms, villas and water villas, managed by Accor’s M Gallery Hotel Collection.

ONE°15 Marina’s other projects in Indonesia include the Indonesia Navy Club managed by ONE°15 Marina, which is based in Pantai Mutiara, an exclusive waterfront district in north Jakarta facing the Thousand Islands archipelago.

More recently, ONE15 Management & Technical Services, an SUTL Enterprise subsidiary, began a consultancy project in Bali, providing a marina-feasibility study and advisory services to PT Pelabuhan Indonesia III, a state-owned enterprise operating and managing 43 ports in seven provinces. As well as evaluating the suitability of the area for developing marinas, the project will include assessing Bali as a potential site for a new ONE°15 Marina.

The brand also operates in China, where its portfolio includes the 158-berth ONE°15 Marina Logan Cove Zhongshan near Hong Kong, while upcoming developments include the 140-berth Taihu International Marina managed by ONE°15 Marina, situated on Lake Tai in Suzhou, west of Shanghai.

“We are very excited about the expansion of our iconic ONE°15 Marina brand,” Tay said. “To grow our network, we’ve adopted a two-pronged strategy. The first is to seek opportunities to consult on marinas being developed, with the end goal of putting our brand on them and managing them. At the same time, we are looking to acquire established marinas that we can transform and rebrand.

“With the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, we expect industry conditions to remain challenging. However, we are cautiously optimistic about the return of tourism and economic growth as Covid-19 restrictions are gradually lifted and vaccination programmes are carried out worldwide.”
