A Lasting 12-year Relationship: Beneteau And China Cup

It is one of China’s largest and most influential sailing contests—China Cup 2018. 1,500 sailors from almost 31 regions and nations met.

Another successful edition of China’s largest and most influential sailing contest — China Cup 2018. It was an International Regatta completed in Shenzhen, China on November 12th. Around 1,500 sailors from almost 31 regions and nations participated in the various racing divisions during the five-day event. Among a total of 108 competing boats, 24 First 40.7s (which form the most competitive category) battled it out on the waves in Daya Bay with 16 other Beneteau owner boats.

2018 marks the 12th year of the partnership between Beneteau and the China Cup. For more than a decade now, Beneteau has been the most staunch long-term supporter of the competition. Its local partner, Simpson Marine, has also been an active contributor to the event.

A Double Accolade for Beneteau
On the occasion of the China Cup, Beneteau boats received recognition in both the cruiser and performance boat categories at the China Sailing Awards. The Figaro Beneteau 3 was named as the Performance Keelboat of the Year, while the Oceanis 51.1 won Cruiser of the Year. Read about the new-generation Oceanis 51.1 Luxuo posted previously.

Team in high spirits

Scooping awards in the only two boating categories out of the nine segments with a majority of votes, Beneteau was the biggest winner of the night. The China Sailing Awards were initiated by the organizing committee of the China Cup, to honour the most outstanding personalities and organisations of the year in the sailing world.

The legendary First Range history was on display which is also the evolving path of modern sailing. At the same time, Beneteau promoted the latest models from the performance cruiser range after launching the First 14, 18, 24, and 27 in 2018.

Since the very beginning of the China Cup, Beneteau has gathered strong international teams comprising of the world’s top sailors to compete on the China Sea. This year, Beneteau and its partner Simpson Marine participated in the extremely competitive First 40.7 category.

A celebratory Beneteau Night cocktail party was held for Beneteau owners, crew, and partners during the China Cup. This unique occasion is fast becoming a tradition for sailing enthusiasts, with more and more guests attending each year.
