Plate wall paintings by Molly Hatch

Feb 19, 2015 | By Staff Writer

Molly Hatch’s plate painting arrangements are stunning. While the overall compositions on the wall appear elegant and striking, each painting on the plate is a work of art in its own right. The paintings are inspired by the traditional decorative china designs. From a distance, you can grasp the overall concept, but up close, you can appreciate the individual contributions of each plate to the overall aesthetic. Hatch also cleverly varies the sizes and shapes of the plates. The culmination of the shapes bring to mind cherry blossoms and other floral motifs. Hatch, who is now based in Northampton in Massachusetts, credits her wholesome New England upbringing for inspiring her to pursue ceramic art for her career.
