OLEK at St+Art Delhi Festival 2015

OLEK’s installation transforms homeless shelter using crochet

Apr 26, 2015 | By Staff Writer

Renowned Polish street artist Olek recently participated in New Delhi’s St+Art Delhi festival 2015 where she was brought in to transform a shelter into a remarkable art installation. Working with the local community, she used colorful fabric and yarn that was crocheted into an enormous blanket and used to cover the entire building. Still retaining her iconic Olek-style of vibrant and wacky colors and prints, she transformed a dilapidated house into an aesthetically radiant structure. The entire project, from the collaboration with the locals to the ritual of adorning the architecture, was a true demonstration of Olek’s aesthetic and socially conscious visions. Both symbolically and literally, her breathtaking installation will bring protection, positivity and life to this community.
