The new store is to open in Greenwich, Connecticut in the US in the fall of 2016, Women’s Wear Daily reports.

To start with, the store will sell only women’s shoes.

Converse debuts new Chuck Taylor All Star

Converse Chuck Taylor All Star II

Converse has revamped its classic shoe for the new Chuck Taylor All Star II, which keeps the original All Star’s silhouette and adds a few new details

The “Chuck II” features Nike Lunarlon technology in a sockliner intended to provide better cushioning and arch support, as well as a foam-padded collar and a perforated micro-suede liner for breathability.

The shoe’s trademark rubber toe cap is still there, joined by an embroidered All Star patch and monochrome matte eyelets.

Converse updated the shoe after following “creative spirits” — “joining them on tour, in concert halls and art studios, on sidewalks and at all-night parties” — with the result a mix of the shoe’s classic aesthetic and modern comfort solutions.

The Fall 2015 Converse Chuck Taylor All Star II launches on July 28 in black, white, red and blue for a suggested retail price of $70 (or $75 for the hi-top) at Converse stores, select retailers and Converse.com.

Inspired by Hardy’s symbolic cube perspective print, each piece is crafted from the same denim blue and white geometric motif fabric.

Designed with the summer vacation season in mind and launching this month, the collection plays on the designer’s reputation for creating optical illusions within his work.

Since launching its debut collection in 1999, the Pierre Hardy brand has become known for its radical, graphic visions, focused on geometry and form. The designer placed an emphasis on shapes, color-blocking, lines and construction games. The brand’s “Cube Perspective” motif, a 2D/3D optical illusion that the designer continues to re-imagine in different forms, was first launched in 2010.

Adidas showcases shoe made from ocean plastics

Adidas concept sneaker

has joined forces with Parley for the Oceans to produce their first concept shoe made from reclaimed materials from the ocean.

Hosted by the United Nations, on June 29 Adidas celebrated its partnership with the organization Parley for the Oceans and showcased the result of their collaboration: footwear made partially from waste materials salvaged from the seas.

The ‘upper’ section of the sneakers are made from reclaimed and recycled yarns and filaments, retrieved from ocean waste and illegal nets by the Sea Shepherd after 110 days spent at sea tracking an illegal poaching vessel.

The collaboration between Adidas and Parley for the Oceans does not stop there. It is part of an ongoing project to develop consumer-ready products designed to increase public awareness about climate change and the environment.

But despite the imminent approach of a Vans x Murakami collection, presented under the Vault by Vans label, only a collection logo accompanied the June 1 announcement, one which features a dog that closely resembles Murakami’s pet dog Pom.

Selected boutiques will carry the collection.

Harrods Shoe Heaven

The London luxury department store has unveiled a brand new footwear department, named Shoe Heaven.

The new area is located suitably high-up, on the fifth floor of the  store in London’s smart Knightsbridge district.

Pushing 42,000 sq ft, the space contains 17 footwear boutiques with collections from over 50 of the biggest luxury brands including Christian Dior, Chanel, Christian Louboutin, Valentino, Manolo Blahnik and Louis Vuitton.

Shoes are “becoming an ever increasingly important part of the way a woman dresses, and indeed a key part of our business,” explained Helen Davids of Harrods; “the space will be more ‘Penthouse’ and less ‘Shoe Floor,'” she added, in what is one of the store’s biggest rennovations to date.

The luxe marble-floored space was designed by the late David Collins, the celebrated London interior designer who died last summer.

Alongside the shoes and the displays, the space also contains velvet banquet seating and private shopping suites, with staff on hand to provide an experience that is “more five-star hotel than shoe department.”

Tod’s celebrates the Gommino with a new ad campaign

Tod's Gommino ADV woman

TOD’S has launched a dedicated advertising campaign to celebrate its iconic Gommino. The Tod’s moccasin was created with the intention of combining classic Italian style with a shoe that can be worn on any occasion.

This casual-chic moccasin took inspiration from the driving shoes used in the ‘50s. Its trademark is a sole covered with 133 rubber ‘pebbles’ in the same color as the leather used for the shoe. These give it its distinctive look.

Tod's Gommino ADV man

The leathers used in the manufacture of the Gommino come from the finest tanneries in the world, and the process of putting this style together requires a high level of skill.

The cutting of the leather and the sewing together of the pieces are done by hand, and there are over 100 steps in the construction of a Tod’s shoe.

There are up to 35 pieces of leather in a single model, and each needs to be individually treated and checked by hand before being assembled.

Prada creates bespoke shoe service

Prada Made To Order soles

Italian label Prada is offering a special ‘Made to Order’ service for two days at its London store.

With a new one-off project set to arrive at their Sloane Street store on March 26 and 27, Prada is letting its customers get creative with their footwear.

The ‘Made to Order Décolleté’ collection allows the brand’s most loyal customers to design their own custom pair of Prada shoes. It all starts with a choice of nine different models and five heel heights, with a further choice of three sole colors (black, lily of the valley, or light blue).

Prada fans can then pick the upper material from a selection of suede, satin, kid leather, patent leather, or printed Saffiano leather in a range of colors.

For the ultimate personalization detail, the store will allow you to add your initials in amber-colored metal below the Prada logo.

The shoes will take approximately one month to make, and they’ll arrive in customized matching boxes. The brand also offered the service in Paris March 20-22 at their 10 avenue Montaigne store.
