Organisers of the second edition of Hainan Rendez-Vous, Asia’s first and only private aviation lifestyle exhibition, announced today that some 250 of the region’s business elites will be flown by private jet to their April 1-4 show in Hainan, a tropical island that is fast developing into China’s version of the French Riviera.
Showcasing the world’s finest private jets, Hainan Rendez-Vous 2011 provides an ideal communication platform for manufacturers and buyers of business aircraft.
It is the only Business-to-VIP-Customer aircraft exhibition in the whole of Asia, and the region’s only show where exhibiting private jet manufacturers actually fly in such a large number of show attendees from their city of origin and back.
In total the event, which also includes a yacht exhibit and luxury property and brands shows, is expected to draw some 8,000 high net worth individuals this year.

Nicolas Sarkozy’s ‘bling bling’ reputation reached new heights last week when it emerged his new 80 million jet has been named ‘Carla’ after his wife.
The French President defied the recession last year to order $390 million worth of planes, including an Airbus designed to be bigger than any flown by other European leaders, and two corporate run-arounds for shorter trips.
The first, a hugely luxurious Dassault Falcon 7X, has now been delivered complete with the hand-painted legend ‘Carla One’ glistening on its side, in honour of First Lady Carla Bruni.

Royal Bank of Scotland cancelled a $45 million order for a luxury private jet that would have been used by its ousted chief executive and other executives if the bank had not needed a taxpayer bailout.
R.B.S. is majority-owned by the British government and is mired in a high profile row over a £16.6 million ($23.7 million), pension pot for the chief, Sir Fred Goodwin.
R.B.S. placed the order for the ultra-modern long-range Falcon 7X worth $45 million about five years ago, and the plane was due to be delivered this year.

The New York Post’s Jennifer Keil and Chuck Bennett reported in Monday’s paper that Citigroup is about to upgrade to a new $50 million, twelve-seat corporate jet.
The New York Post, citing “a source familiar with the deal,” reported today that Citigroup executives authorized the purchase of a new Dassault Falcon 7X, which seats 12 in leather seats and sofas and includes a custom entertainment center.
Citigroup received $45 billion from the government last year, including a $20 billion emergency infusion in November.

French aircraft manufacturer Dassault has introduced a jet that changes the playing field for business jet manufacturers operators and pilots. That jet is the $50 million Falcon 7X.
The Falcon 7X is perhaps the most coveted ultra-long range private jet in all of Europe and flies faster, further and higher than its predecessors.
It is the largest Falcon tri-jet business aircraft produced, and Dassault states that the Falcon 7X is the world’s first fly-by-wire business jet.
