Ace Hotels has launched a writers-in-residence program that’ll see a writer pen an open letter to guests once a month for the remainder of the year.

Curated by American writer Alexander Chee, a roster of 12 writers — one for each month — will spend the night at one of the chain’s seven hotels around the world and craft an open letter to hotel guests.

Drop dates for the letters will remain a secret until the day before delivery. The next day, guests will find their hand-stamped, numbered ‘Dear Reader’ letter beside their bed.

Chee is author of “Edinburgh” and “The Queen of the Night” and the recipient of numerous literary awards such as the 2003 Whiting Writers’ Award and a 2004 NEA Fellowship in Prose.

Launching the program at the Ace Hotel New York was Atticus Lish, author of “Preparation For the Next Life,” which Chee described as one of the most interesting and intelligent novels he read last year.

Other writers-in-residence include Saeed Jones, Catherine Chung and Lucas Mann.
