For generations, the panther has been synonymous with luxury high jeweller Cartier and is a constant source of inspiration for the brand in creating many of its products from watches to jewellery and perfumes. La Panthère, as it is known by many, encapsulates the spirit of the French maison. The qualities commonly associated with the elusive creature like grace, finesse and elegance are transmuted through its collections.

In this upcoming exhibition titled “Into the Wild”, it is touted to be an immersive one where guests can get to roam the wonders of La Panthère’s universe and explore its origins subsequent diversification and  The distinctive patterns of La Panthère first appeared on a ladies’ timepiece in 1914 and its representative transitioned from the abstract to figurative three years later. The motif was depicted on a case gifted by Louis Cartier to Jeanne Toussaint where the animal is flanked by cypress trees.

Under the leadership of Jeanne Toussaint as the maison’s artistic director, the panther’s emblematic style finds its way onto almost everything the jeweller created. From the layman to influential style icons of today like Blackpink’s Jisoo, Ella Balinska and Timothée Chalamet have all worn La Pathère on various red carpets and award ceremonies.

In Singapore, we were fortunate enough to catch a glimpse of La Pathère during the Beautés de Monde high jewellery showcase held earlier in July. Seen under the theme of “World of Wildlife”, the spirit animal of the house of Cartier was presented in precious stones and gems. The whimsical portrayal of the panther makes for a great addition to the maison as it helps to lighten the otherwise serious and rigid atmosphere that often accompanies high jewellery presentations.

While the public may not have the chance to see the marvellous pieces shown at Beautés du Monde, they can revel in the La Panthère universe at the “Into the Wild” exhibition between 16 to 30 October.

Book a 30-minute slot now at this website and we hope you will enjoy the exhibition.
