The House of Dior welcomes football star Kylian Mbappé as its newest global brand ambassador. The new appointment will see the 22-year-old representing the house’s menswear fashion designed by artistic director Kim Jones. Mbappé will also be the image of the men’s perfume Sauvage.

The connection between Mbappé and the French Maison started even before this official announcement was released. The world champion football player has been spotted wearing pieces from Dior — be it t-shirts or sweaters. More recently, Mbappé opted to wear a tuxedo from the brand for the annual Ballon d’Or award ceremony.

Despite his young age, Mbappé has received numerous awards for his outstanding performance. This includes Fifa’s “Best Young Player,” France’s Ligue 1 Young Player of the Year and the Kopa trophy for best under-21 player worldwide. Last month, his unprecedented quartet of goals helped France to qualify for the 2022 World Cup — this was a feat not seen since 1958.

Along with his on-the-field excellence, Mbappé’s off the pitch contributions are also worth mentioning. The star striker from Paris Saint-Germain club is a sponsor of the “Premiers de Cordée”, an initiative that helps to organise sporting activities for hospitalised children. Last year, Mbappé started his own association, “Inspired by KM”, which aims to inspire children from across social backgrounds to reach their goals.

The House of Dior’s ties with the sporting world, especially Paris Saint-Germain, is an ongoing collaboration. Earlier this year, the brand announced that it will be the football club’s official tailor. The players’ wardrobe for both casual and formal will come from Dior for the next two seasons.

“Today, the House of Dior is particularly happy to welcome Kylian Mbappé with whom it shares the same values of exacting standards and generosity,” the brand said in a statement. He will be joining other house ambassadors such as award-winning actress Anna-Taylor Joy, Blackpink’s Jisoo and Pierre Casiraghi.
