French singer-songwriter Lou Doillon works her signature smoldering gaze and charismatic smile for J Brand’s latest campaign.

It looks like Lou Doillon is following in her mother’s footsteps of being “the girl”. The French singer-songwriter, who’s daughter to inimitable icon Jane Birkin (yes, that Birkin), makes a return to modelling once again to be the face and muse of J Brand’s campaign this fall.

The stripped back campaign sees Doillon looking right at home in the label’s early 1990s-inspired collection. The range sees retro favorites in the mix – think tight cropped flares, skinny high-rise jeans and relaxed shirts – that give off the laid-back, urban aesthetic that’s now synonymous with the cult label. She’s also featured in various leather motorcycle jackets and spiffy outerwear with brass closures and contrast topstitching.

Laura Pizzarelli, Vice President of Creative and Marketing, explained why Doillon was an obvious choice for the campaign, referring to her as “not a typical model but rather a singer and songwriter, fine artist and a mother,” adding that she “exudes cool with as much power as she exudes kindness.”

But this isn’t Doillon’s first foray into modelling; she’s starred in Maje Spring/Summer campaign in 2015, Chloe’s Spring/Summer 2014 spread and several big-name brand campaigns such as H&M, Vanessa Bruno and Club Monaco. The artist has also graced covers for Vogue Turkey and Elle France and walked for Tom Ford’s special presentation show back in 2011.
