Born to a Vietnamese mother and French father, Barbara Bui, who first started showing at Paris Fashion Week in 1987 is known for her unadulterated love for leather, as seen from her designs which are often interspersed with a combination of elegance and rock ‘n’ roll attitude. Bui, who is slated to show at this year’s upcoming Fashion Week, gives us an insight to a few of her favorite things when on vacation, from her favorite accessories to her most precious holiday memory.

Beachwear, casual or glamorous? What’s your go-to look when you’re on vacation?
Cool and glamorous at the same time, but more cool than glamorous.

What are your fashion essentials for summer getaways?
A choice of shorts and flat sandals with creative designs, and very light, flowing dresses.

What accessories do you always take with you on vacation?
My sunglasses.

What is your holiday beauty regimen?
I always use sunscreen and I use a scrub every three days.

What are your favorite makeup looks for day and night?
In the evening, I sculpt my complexion with a bronzer and go for dense eye color with cream shadows. During the day, over a sunscreen base, I use a bit of a sun protection tinted compact on my cheeks and waterproof mascara.

Do you have a particular holiday anecdote or memory to share?
My favorite thing on vacation is going boating and waterskiing — that’s why I’m not very done-up when on vacation. However, before a trip, I always get my nails done with an orange semi-permanent varnish to have pretty hands and feet for the whole of the stay.
