Here in Asia, we are wrapping up all that monkey business and awaiting the arrival of the Rooster with the start of the Lunar New Year. With it being the year of the “Fire” Rooster, AkzoNobel has unveiled a shade, called Denim Drift that is said to help tame the flames and bring about a sense of calm.

According to Master Goh Guan Leong of Way Fengshui Consultancy the shade, that is AkzoNobel’s Colour Futures 2017 Colour of The Year, brings about a sense of calmness and serenity that will be needed. The shade that symbolises water is said to soothe the “fire” element that many will see and should be used in living rooms. The lucky shade is said to be doubly auspicious thanks to its combination of blue and grey. Master Goh advises that the use of grey around the home’s main entrance helps to attract wealth.

The new colour isn’t just of interest to those looking to cool the tension in the New Year. AkzoNobel also recommends the colour to those who simply enjoy the calming shade that will suit most design trends. From Scandinavian to rustic country, the versatile Denim Drift tends to showcase a different element with each turn.

“Alluringly ambiguous, Denim Drift takes on a different characteristic depending on how it is used” said Jeremy Rowe, Managing Director of AkzoNobel Decorative Paints South East & South Asia. For the refreshing feel, Rowe suggests pairing Denim Drift with lighter shades while darker shades lend a dramatic and moody vibe to any space.
