If you believe in Buddha and his ideologies then some corner of your house would be housing a big or small figure of Buddha in any one of his forms.

If not then take a look at the gilted bronze figure of Avalokiteshvara belonging to the 13 century from Tibet.

Unlike the hieratic, frontal, and often powerful images that typify many Southeast Asian sculptures, this figure of Avalokiteshvara is portrayed in a less formal position.

The smooth bronze surfaces reflect light, further emphasizing the sculptural volumes. Festooned with colored stones, Avalokiteshvara, the Bodhisattva of Infinite Compassion, the figure looks completely natural.

His eyes, which almost but never quite confront the viewer and the faint smile on his lips create a mood of serenity and gentleness perfectly suited to him.

If you have been mesmerized by his charm then on 21st March 10, 2008, at 20 Rockefeller Plaza, New York, you can bid for this Gilt bronze figure of Avalokiteshvara which is estimated at $1,000,000-1,500,000.
