Designed by Miguel Angel Galluzzi, the Il Mostro or Ducati Monster is a muscle bike best identified by its iconic exposed engine and frame. Galluzzi, head of Piaggio’s Advanced Design Center in Pasadena, also manages the design of the Aprilia, Moto Guzzi, Derbi and Gilera motorcycle brands but his arguably most recognised work is for Ducati’s naked Monster.

A customisation favourite since its introduction in 1993, the trellis frame in the Ducati Monster is not just some macho aesthetic element but also an integral part of the motorcycle’s design allowing for structural efficiency. From Ducati, the Monster line has had numerous variations over the years, from entry level 400 cc motorbikes up to top of the line 160 hp multivalve, water-cooled superbike editions. At times, there were as many as nine different Monster versions in a single model year but it’s the fans and connoisseurs who have really driven the custom Ducati Monster craze, case in point – Munich-based custom motorcycle shop Diamond Atelier.

The Ducati Monster’s simplicity is what makes it such a custom motorcycle favourite, this time Diamond Atelier’s 24K Ducati Monster 1200R is a luxurious take on the wild Italian stallion. Settled amidst a gloss olive green colourway, the 24k gold leaf elements provide the rugged bike not just design contrast but philosophical one at that. Gold leaf in the frame and pinstriping augment the bespoke, 3D printed tailpiece while the hand-stitched leather seat adds an extra touch of artisanal elegance to Ducati’s most popular motorbike.

What makes the Diamond Atelier 24K Ducati Monster 1200R Motorcycle so appealing is that despite its luxurious bespoke modifications, the Monster at its core still attracts the same urban, style-conscious buyers who desire a bike with an individualistic statement. With Diamond Atelier’s custom Monster, you still get that humble “parts bin special,” carefully engineered to work in unison with components from other Ducati models but now stylistically updated to provide a true bespoke bike experience.

Lewis Hamilton, Orlando Bloom, Usher, Alanis Morissette, Lyle Lovett, and Adrien Brody are notable A-list celebrities who own a Ducati Monster. The Diamond Atelier 24K Ducati Monster 1200R is a one-up from their run-of-the-mill models.
