A touch of royalty, it turns out, can do wonders for a destination.
That seems to be the experience of the Seychelles, basking this month in the glory of being chosen as the honeymoon spot for the world’s most watched couple, Prince William and Kate Middleton.
Since the first reports of the honeymoon surfaced, the Seychelles has been blessed with the sort of press coverage most places can only dream of — something which authorities hope will turn readers into visitors in the coming months.

Prince William and his wife Kate will honeymoon at a luxury villa on an island in the Seychelles, according to Monday’s Daily Mail newspaper.
The newly-weds delayed their honeymoon, but will jet out later this month to spend ten days at a £4,000 ($6,700) a night retreat in the Indian Ocean archipelago.
The protection officers reportedly visited the top-secret location to assess its suitability and were satisfied that the isolated resort would offer the required privacy.

A village in the Seychelles called La Misere is demanding millions in damages for pollution caused by the construction of a huge palace for the United Arab Emirates president, residents said Thursday.
Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed bin Sultan al-Nahyan, also the prince of Abu Dhabi, is building a lavish compound on the highest spot of the Indian Ocean nation’s main island, on the site of a former US tracking station.

The modern world offers a stunning array of man-made islands, but although most of the focus has been on Dubai, Spain, Tokyo and Russia, another gorgeous paradise named Eden Island resides in the Seychelles archipelago region in the Indian Ocean.
While the man-made islands most people think of are like big communities that feel like small countries, Eden Island is a more private escape for the most affluent seekers of privacy. The beaches are secluded and the marina is capable of harboring some of the world’s most enormous luxury yachts so you can cruise in and out in style.
“Eden Island is a 99-acre residential marina development that sports a minimum of 480 luxury freehold apartments, mansions and private villas,’ according to IntListings.com. “Homes are spacious, with large verandas and high-pitched red roofs. They feature breathtaking views over mountains, ocean, forests and nearby islands like Cerf and Ste. Anne.”
