3 Bold Summer 2016 Lip Trends

We can no longer say that summer is just around the corner because, well, look at your calendar. In fact it practically hit us all straight on without hesitation and will leave us before we figure it all out. Embracing the heat certainly doesn’t mean skimping on those eye-catching pouts; instead we bring you three ways to do more than just pay lip service to the season.

Goth QueensFenty-Rihanna-NYFW-2016

From Rihanna X Puma to Vivienne Westwood and even Dior, the almost black lips were seen all over the runways this fall. Showing that beauty looks on the ramp can be brought to the red carpets, Katy Perry flaunted her Covergirl collaboration at the MET Ball with Perry Panther. Of course, no beauty list these days is complete without new beauty mogul-in-waiting, Kylie Jenner herself. Her brand Kylie cosmetics recently unveiled a black liquid lip color ‘Dead of Knight’. Thankfully, it looks better than it reads. Those feeling less adventurous (or more cerebral) can opt instead for a navy blue hue ‘Freedom’ from the same range.

While Jenner expands her empire and included three new lip colors including a strawberry matte hue called Kristen, she isn’t the only star getting lippy. Joining her in the league of fruity lip colors is Gwen Stefani who has been known for her bold red lips. Switching up her beauty look, the singer-songwriter has started sporting softer cherry pink hues. One major brand that has walked this route is none other than Dolce & Gabbana with its ‘Summer in Italy’ collection that featured a revamped Classic Cream Lipstick in a deep raspberry hue called Cyclamen.

Simply GlossyMAC-Good-Luck-Trolls-Collection

Summer may not be the season you would associate lip-gloss with, but the lip trend is currently seeing a major revival. Model Hailey Baldwin showed off this trend with a natural looking shimmery taupe shade while Blake Lively sported pink gloss for some extra sweetness. Major beauty brands such as Chanel showcased fun lilacs, sophisticated nudes (think Botticelli) and preppy pinks with its new ‘Lèvres Scintillantes’ lip-glosses. MAC showcased bold shades in its Good Luck Trolls beauty collection with a range of shiny ‘Lipglasses’, glittery ‘Bubble Butt’ , magenta ‘Twerkquoise’ sky blue as well as ‘Glitter Grunge that featured berry tones. And yes, the reign of the utterly ridiculous names in beauty continues, no matter the season.

Dolce & Gabbana: Wild About Fall Beauty

We’re only midway through summer and beauty brands are already gearing up for the season ahead. If the Dolce & Gabbana “Wild About Fall” is any indication, then the new season is going to be filled with shades ranging from browns to berries and paired with hints of gold.

Much like its summer collection, the brand is taking its inspiration from Sicilian weather. The star of the collection is the Eyeshadow Quad in Enchanting Fall that brings the colors of Sicily’s autumn to life. A Brow Liner in Chestnut along with a Secret Eyes Mascara in Coffee that adds to the warmth of the collection. Those brave enough to take a walk on the wild side, there’s also Glam Liner in Wild Green as well as eyeliner called Agave in a deep olive shade.

Catering to those who prefer more sophisticated shades, is the Eyeshadow Quad in Smoky. However, the eyes are not the only features to receive some attention. Dolce & Gabbana also adds a few lip colors in warm brown shades. The Shine Lipstick in Chocolate is one that would suit those who love bold lips while the Classic Cream Lipstick in Honey is the softer nude option. For a little sparkle, the brand introduces two Sheer Shine Glosses in Desert and Shimmer.

To achieve that healthy glow on the cheeks, the collection features a blush in vivid pink called Strawberry. For a manicure worthy of the season, the collection brings out a new Nail lacquer in three shades: Raspberry, Wild Green and Ebano.

Dolce & Gabbana’s “Wild About Fall” beauty collection will launch in September.

Summer in Italy with Dolce & Gabbana

The new makeup collection by Dolce and Gabbana is here and it brings with it a slice of Italy. The recurring motif in the brand’s new “Summer In Italy” collection is the concept of ‘carretto siciliano’, an iconic Italian folklore of medieval knights, dames and traditions along with the love of beauty.

None other than the ambience and citrus fruits of the Mediterranean inspire the bright, cheerful and sunny shades. For that sun kissed Mediterranean glow, try the Sicilian bronzer named Sunshine in a compact case with patterns of the colorful Sicilian carretto or The Blush in Orange, a soft powder formula. To highlight the cheekbones and temples is The Shimmer Powder in Star Shine, a compact powder illuminator.

Of course, the tranquil Mediterranean Sea is the source of inspiration for The Perfect Mono Eye shadow in Turquoise while the citrus fruits are behind the cool Lemon shade. The Glam Liner in Cyclamen, a bold floral pink, contrasts vibrantly with both colors. The lips are not forgotten with the Classic Cream Lipstick in shades of Orange and Cylamen, that are also perfumed with the house’s rose petal scent. Nail Lacquers in the complementary shades of Turquoise, Lemon, Orange and Cyclamen complete the youthful and flirtatious collection.

has introduced an entirely new product: a cream eye color available in single shades. The new Perfect Mono Intense Cream Eyeshadow was created in collaboration with makeup artist Pat McGrath.

The new collection consists of 14 shades, all formulated with oils, silicone and silk elastomers for precise and easy application and up to 12 hours of wear.

And just because this eyeshadow has a cream texture doesn’t mean it can’t be worn with powder products. “It’s perfect by itself although adding a lighter tone from your favourite Eyeshadow Quad or Duo, or applying a pearl shade alongside a matte one will create extra drama,” explains Pat McGrath.

Dolce Gabbana beauty campaign 2014

To give its new eyeshadow the campaign it deserves, the brand enlisted the help of one of its most loyal spokesmodels: Scarlett Johansson.

Already the face of the Dolce & Gabbana fragrance The One, the actress is now also the star of a new makeup campaign shot by Mert and Marcus.

“We are constantly inspired by Monica Bellucci, to us she will always be the original Dolce & Gabbana woman; naturally, timelessly beautiful,” Domenico Dolce explains.
