French houses honored at French fragrance awards

The French fragrance foundation awarded its annual prizes exclusively to local brands last week.

Its main awards for best fragrance of the year went to Yves Saint Laurent’s Belle d’Opium, in women’s perfumes and Bleu de Chanel in the men’s category.

All other winning brands, including Lancôme, Hermès, or Biotherm, also hail from France.

Gucci and Chanel win at Italian fragrance awards

On the occasion of the Cosmoprof fair running in Bologna, Italy, which wraps up March 21, the Italian fragrance foundation Accademia del Profumo has announced the winners of its annual awards.

Its two main prizes, best women’s and men’s perfume, are yearly chosen by consumers and were won by Gucci Guilty and Bleu de Chanel respectively.

The juried awards for olfactory creations went to Love, Chloé in women’s and Voyage d’Hermès in men’s perfumes.

Chanel Unveils The Bleu De Chanel Ad

Shot earlier this year, we finally have a look at Martin Scorsese’s spot for Chanel’s fragrance for men, Bleu, starring French actor Gaspard Ulliel.

The one minute advert was released yesterday, and it features all the grit and energy that the legendary director is famous for.

The tagline is “Be unexpected.” It features a young man, French actor Gaspard Ulliel, deciding to do just that, presumably after dabbing on a touch of Bleu.

Fragrance worth a Scorsese ad revealed

The new men’s fragrance by Chanel — the one director Martin Scorsese shot a commercial for — will be called Bleu de Chanel and launch in August.

A bluish image, released by the label last month showing Scorsese and French actor Gaspard Ulliel, already hinted at the name of the eagerly awaited scent.
