Luxury hotel The St. Regis Abu Dhabi is taking fine dining to new heights, literally. The hotel just announced the launch of a new culinary experience, the Helipad Sunset Supper, that will allow diners to watch the sunset over the city from the helipad.

Once a month, up to 20 guests (the experience is also open to diners who are not guests of the hotel) can sign up for the “Helipad Sunset Supper” which takes place 255m in the air. Now, you don’t just take an elevator up because that would be too prosaic. The St. Regis says diners will be escorted through the hotel’s secret back hallways (which we suppose won’t be a secret for long) to (maybe) secret elevators that lead to the helipad.

Dinners will be serenaded by a saxophonist, and the menu will feature caviar, oysters and canapés along with flutes of bubbly. We are told that the experience will include the traditional champagne sabering ritual that St. Regis hotels are famous for. You might also remember the St. Regis Abu Dhabi being famous for stunts like this one.

“Our aim was to create a truly unique experience that gave the public a look behind the scenes of The St. Regis Abu Dhabi. We wanted something that people would really find engaging – perhaps because it excited them, perhaps because it scared them – but either way, something they would want to talk about,” said General Manager Moustafa Sakr.
