Tudor’s #BornToDare signature celebrates the adventures of daring individuals who “have achieved the extraordinary on land, ice, in the air and underwater, with a Tudor watch on their wrists.” The ethos is reinforced across the globe by personalities and organisations whose notable achievements are the outcome of a fearless and visionary approach to life.

#BornToDare also points to the revolutionary vision of Tudor founder Hans Wilsdorf, who ventured into manufacturing affordable watches able to withstand the most extreme conditions. Additionally, it is a testament to Tudor’s unyielding outlook which has helped make it what it is today — “at the cutting edge of the watchmaking industry, with unique innovations that have become essential references”.

The competition is scheduled for 2024 and will be the conclusion of a long and meticulous preparation phase for the Alinghi Red Bull Racing team. Its headquarters is near Lausanne, in Écublens, Switzerland, where the competing boat will be built, as per the requirements of the America’s Cup rule book.

The Swiss watchmaker has a rich history of crafting high-quality, precision timepieces for generations. It is revered for its collaborations in the sporting world as well, with ambassadors like David Beckham, big wave surfer Nic Von Rupp, freediving World Champion Morgan Bourc’his and the New Zealand All Blacks rugby team. Tudor CEO Éric Pirson said: “Alinghi Red Bull Racing being a Swiss team with a Swiss boat, we feel it is a natural fit for us, a Swiss company, to join forces and we are proud to see our watches sailing with the team.”

The 100 per cent Swiss Made crew is being assembled and has already started training on GC32 class catamarans. Alinghi Red Bull Racing has acquired ‘BoatZero’ as a training boat — previously owned by Emirates Team New Zealand and the first-ever AC75 to touch water. The location of the competition is yet to be determined.

Alinghi x Red Bull

Legendary two-time America’s Cup winner, Alinghi, teamed up with iconic driving force Red Bull which recently came afloat with Max Verstappen being crowned F1 World Champion. Both have long been friendly rivals in the GC32 Racing Tour and the Extreme Sailing Series. Ernesto Bertarelli, the founder of competitive sailing team Alinghi, envisioned the challenge to be unprecedented while keeping the winning spirit.

“When we imagined with Dietrich Mateschitz the involvement of Red Bull in the America’s Cup, he said: Our way is not to get into the sport as sponsors, but to blend into the team, to form a true partnership, to nurture young athletes and turn them into the best in their field. He also proposed that we should make contributions to give the America’s Cup itself a new dimension,” said Bertarelli at a conference in December 2021.

In terms of the partnership, Red Bull also provides the expertise of its Advanced Technologies unit that has supported the F1 team in achieving five Drivers’ Championships and four Constructors’ Championships. The news and two-way cooperation were further affirmed by Christian Horner, Team Principal of the Red Bull F1 team, via satellite after the F1 2021 finale in Abu Dhabi.

In line with the America’s Cup, Alinghi Red Bull Racing will be fielding teams in the debut of the Women’s America’s Cup Regatta, as well as in the return of the Youth America’s Cup. Hans-Peter Steinacher, a two-time Olympic champion in the Tornado Class and Austria’s most successful summer sport athlete, is enthusiastic about the new partnership. Steinacher said both Alinghi and Red Bull have always focused on growing the sport and its sailors, and thinks it will be inspiring to see the talents in action.
