Novelty watches for him and her: Patek Philippe launches the Ref. 5960/1 and Ref. 7130 at BaselWorld 2017

Geneva watchmaker Patek Philippe unveils new dial colours for gents and ladies

Patek Philippe Ref 7130

Patek Philippe typically does not reveal any of its wares ahead of BaselWorld but this year, the great Geneva watchmaker teases the world with two new models, one for gents the other for ladies. Well, it isn’t much a reveal, with both models being novelties – this means that they are existing models with minor variations – but collectors might like to note these additions nevertheless. It is unlikely that once the crush of BaselWorld 2017 begins that we will turn to these sorts of unassuming watches. As far as print is concerned, WOW is unlikely to dedicate precious pages to novelty action. That, of course, means this is your best shot at the new Patek Philippe Ref. 5960/1 and Ref. 7130.

Patek Philippe Ref 5960/1

Both these 2017 references introduce new dial colours, with 5960/1 getting an ebony black opaline dial while 7130 gets a gray-blue hand-guilloched dial centre. Complications wise, 5960/1 retains all the standards of the 5960, which means it has an annual calendar and a chronograph. Likewise, the new 7130 still features the world time complication (showing 24 time zones) and has the same arrangement of diamonds in a white gold case. Near as we can tell, only the dials here are different but Ref. 7130 is offered with a matching blue leather strap and we are not sure if this is a new colour as well, at least as far as this model goes.
