TOD’S has launched a dedicated advertising campaign to celebrate its iconic Gommino. The Tod’s moccasin was created with the intention of combining classic Italian style with a shoe that can be worn on any occasion.

This casual-chic moccasin took inspiration from the driving shoes used in the ‘50s. Its trademark is a sole covered with 133 rubber ‘pebbles’ in the same color as the leather used for the shoe. These give it its distinctive look.

The leathers used in the manufacture of the Gommino come from the finest tanneries in the world, and the process of putting this style together requires a high level of skill.

The cutting of the leather and the sewing together of the pieces are done by hand, and there are over 100 steps in the construction of a Tod’s shoe.

There are up to 35 pieces of leather in a single model, and each needs to be individually treated and checked by hand before being assembled.
