Bowl Your Guests Over

Artemide

Transylvanian-born designer Attila Veress and celebrity chef David Oldani of POP cuisine in Italy have put their collective expertise into designing the “Bonta” portable table lamp and serveware for Artemide. The Bonta series of opal glass bowls and plates are in different sizes and colours and can be placed on top of a portable base, emitting a soft, indirect light from below. The base is made from textured milk glass to create a relaxed atmosphere. You can move the bowls flexibly and independently of the luminaire, and this makes for an alluring table setting where food can become even more enticing.

Artistic Expression

Renowned artist Jacky Tsai has collaborated with Shanghai Tang to create the Auspicious Dragon Collection in style to celebrate the Year of the Dragon. This collection is also a tribute to the brand’s 30th anniversary and coincides with the auspicious Year of the Dragon in 2024. This exquisite collection — bowls, spoons, tea cups, flatware and candles — blends traditional Chinese artistry with contemporary flair. Tsai was inspired by the traditional Chinese belief in the dragon as a divine mythical creature reflecting positive attributes. Therefore, the dragon imagery is embellished in these arresting items. The collection also offers a clutch bag, wallet, evening bag, coaster and two silk shawls.

Sleek Bouquet

If you want a minimalist style for your table setting, check out the “Bouquet” portable table lamp/vase designed by Brogliato Traverso for Magis. Stocked at Xtra, this rechargeable table is made from injection moulded ABS and houses an LED light with a dimmer function by pressing a button. The lamp houses a vessel to hold water and can be removed to allow you to clean it. The light is offered in many colours, and you can find a USB-C charge point at the object’s base.

Show-stopping Flatware

While we know Louis Vuitton is famous for their leather products and ready-to-wear pieces, the brand, founded in 1854, continues to evolve in different product segments. Making its foray into tableware, the new collection “Monogram Flower Tile” is a touch of contemporary design embracing its heritage logos. The dinnerware is crafted from Limoges porcelain of French origin. This heritage craft began in 1830 and has used sustainable clay managed by the state-owned Sèvres porcelain near Paris. The stylish collection offers saucers, bowls and plates accented by graphics of LV’s signature Monogram flower and other designs in blue. There are also the “Twist Glasses” crafted from crystal in hues of clear, amber, sapphire blue, emerald green and Venetian ruby red.
