Vertu’s high-end cellphones always mix luxury components with off-the-beaten-track designs and luxuriously high price tags, but with this latest product you have to wonder if Vertu’s company dictionary even includes the word “recession”.

The Boucheron 150 cellphone that you see is crafted from a single piece of solid gold and is meant to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Boucheron jewelry house in Paris.

According to the designer, it took around 1,000 hours to cut into shape, 700 hours to hand polish, it as well as 500 hours to built in – all without the help of machines but relying on the power of human hands only.

The sapphire crystal keypad looks too precious to use, while its wooden case is made from Noce Pedullo walnut tree courtesy of Reuge from Switzerland. Each time the case is opened, you will be greeted by the Vertu signature ringtone.

While there isn’t much more information on the handset at present several blogs state that it will cost in upwards of 30,000 US dollars.
