T.H.E Dance Company: The Ordinary Man

Chinese traditional cross talk and contemporary dance

Feb 11, 2014 | By Staff Writer

As part of 2014’s Huayi Festival, T.H.E Dance Company presents The Ordinary Man, a work that finds its inspiration in the traditional Chinese art form of cross talk. Jointly choreographed by artistic director Kuik Swee Boon and Taiwanese choreographer Wu Yi-San for an international cast of 8 dancers, The Ordinary Man is an extended re-staging of Cross Talk from the company’s Solo/Duet production in 2012. Featuring traditional elements of Chinese Cross Talk (‘speaking’, ‘teasing’, ‘imitating’ and ‘singing’) alongside contemporary movement, The Ordinary Man seeks to draw from daily life to explore questions of identity in today’s society.
