Mansory Takes On Rolls-Royce Dawn

The guys at Mansory are dead serious about designing experiences.

The Rolls-Royce Dawn’s alluring presence is undeniable. Never mind that it takes 1,500 of the industry’s most skilled technicians to build. This dynamic 4-seat convertible by Rolls-Royce Motor Cars is to date, one of the most ambitious vehicles the British car manufacturer has attempted since BMW’s acquisition in 2003.

So just when you thought this sleek coupe couldn’t get any better, German premium car tuning and customization firm Mansory has gone ahead and given the $380,000 car’s exterior, interior and engine bay some serious fine tuning. The nose gets a new carbon fiber front spoiler with larger air intakes, the LED running lights have been changed and the hood section completely remodeled in carbon fiber to cut weight. The car also gets side skirts and a trunk-lid spoiler.

But the good people at Mansory didn’t just stop there. Under the hood, the Dawn’s original 563hp 6.6-liter V12 now produces 740hp and 1000Nm of torque (previously 780Nm), propelling the car to 100km/h in 4.5 seconds with a top speed of 285km/h (a whopping 35km/h more than the standard car delivers).

Inside, the company offers customers whatever they want in terms of precious metals, rare leathers or carbon fiber detailing, much like Rolls-Royce itself.

And while purists and many luxury carmakers may frown upon the exploits of companies like Mansory, its services are very much in demand. So much so that Rolls-Royce itself has recently introduced a new ‘Black Badge’ model line which Rolls-Royce CEO Müller-Ötvös describes as “motor cars for a group of young, driven, self-made people that will make a bold and edgy lifestyle statement about their lives.” They offer more powerful engine tuning, carbon fiber trim, larger wheels and matte exterior finishes.

The Dawn is unarguably the brainchild of some very keen minds, but it is customisable services like Mansory’s that add an extra sensory dimension for a ride like no other.
