Barrier

Submerged portraiture by photography studio Staudinger-franke

Jan 08, 2015 | By Staff Writer

Vienna-based photography studio staudinger-franke has released their latest series of photographs featuring the ‘barrier’ between a human model and the transparent sheets under which they are submerged in water.  Separated by this barrier of water, the photograph also captures the colorful fishes and aquatic life that is surrounding the model’s face. The water reflects light but also reveals deep shadows buried within the layers of hair and plant life, adding eeriness and uncertainty in the pictures. Adding to this effect, the models bear expressionless faces, with emotionless eyes gazing at straight at the lens. This photo series is both haunting and evocative.
