Photography series of fighting porcelain figurines breaking

Photographer Martin Klimas finds action in broken things

Jul 04, 2014 | By Staff Writer

Photographer Martin Klimas’s recent photography series captures the moments of porcelain figures breaking. The photographer drops beautiful porcelain figures from a height of 3 meters and the sound of their shattering triggers the shutter release, capturing the moments of the figures exploding into little pieces. His method is so precise that he is even able to capture the tiny shards and cracks as a result of the impact. There is an explosion of energy and life that stands in stark contrast with the inanimate objects. The porcelain figures come to life and appear more active and powerful than they were as stationary figures, as if they were in the midst of a chaotic battle.
