On November 25th, 2010, Bernie Ecclestone was mugged and his Hublot watch stolen from his wrist.

The 80-year-old, attacked a week ago, sent the snap to Jean-Claude Biver, CEO of Hublot, with the note: “See what people will do for a Hublot”.

Since the two share a certain sense of humor, they soon agreed to turn the incident into an advert.

Van Cleef & Arpels is going to unveil a new timepiece inspired by Les Voyages Extraordinaires, a famous novel written by Jules Verne.

Called the “Five Weeks In a Balloon”, this new piece from the French exquisite jewellery and watchmaker debuts at the SIHH 2011 in Geneva.

The eye-paralyzing dial is embellished with champleve enamel and inlaid with mother-of-pearl. It demonstrates a hot-air balloon flowing into the air of Zanzibar.

A bracelet owned by Wallis Simpson, whose affair with Edward VIII led to his abdication, has sold for a world record-breaking £4.5m ($7m) at auction.

The diamond panther bracelet, was sold by Sotheby’s. It was the most expensive bracelet and most expensive Cartier item to be sold at any auction.

It was one of 20 pieces owned by the Duke and Duchess of Windsor to go under the hammer in the sale, which raised a total of £7,975,550 ($12,417,369m).

High-end German safe maker Dottling has created This Colosimo watch safe, named after Jim Colosimo, who was a bank robber in the early 20th century.

The Dottling Colosimo is a 1:13 scale model of the bank vault. The safe weighs 66 pounds (30 kg) and is about 11 inches wide.

The Colosimo is fully functional just like the vaults it’s designed after and features 16 radially arranged locking bolts and 32 gilged cogs.
