It is official now : Bugatti is working on a Targa semi-convertible version of its EB16.4 Veyron super-coupe. This targa version of the Bugatti supercar will make its public debut at the 2008 Concours d’Elegance at Pebble Beach, California, which kicks off on August 17.
The topless Bug will get a removable hardtop, but Since the Veyron’s packaging is so tight, the roof panel cannot be stored on board, meaning the cover will have to be taken off at home To compensate, a storable fabric cover will also be included to protect the interior from the elements in emergency situations.
As with all other convertibles, the chassis will be reinforced to make up for the lack of a roof. These changes are expected to come at a cost to performance; thus, the Veyron Targa’s top speed will be limited to 217mph ( lower than the coupe’s upper bound of 253 mph).

Bugatti has unveiled a third limited edtion model of the Veyron ‘hypercar’ to sit alongside the Pur Sang and Fbg par Hermès variants of the fastest and most desirable supercar on the planet.
The Sang Noir, which translates to ‘Black Blood,’ is based on the previous Pur Sang edition of which only five cars were built.
Every Veyron is built to order with a custom package as specified by the consumer and with this in mind we could easily argue the fact there will be 300 different special edition Veyrons on the street by the time the current generation production series ends.
This model features an all over black livery, specially designed grille, unique alloy wheels and a bright orange interior.
The Bugatti Veyron is one of the most exclusive cars on the planet, with a price tag of $1,400,000 but price for this new limited edition model has not been announced yet.

AutoExpress has revealed that production of version of the Bugatti Veyron will be limited to just 80 units against 300 for the coupé.
Featuring a removable hard-top roof panel, it will deliver an incredible driving experience thanks to its 987bhp 6.0-litre W16 engine. While the ‘standard’ car costs £840,000, the Targa is likely to be close to £900,000!
Even though the hard-top will be removable, there will be no space for it to be stored inside the car. If the heavens open, though, owners can make use of a fabric cover that can be extended to protect the cabin.
To cope with the loss of structural rigidity brought about by the removal of the roof, engineers will reinforce the Veyron’s chassis – a process which is likely to add to the model’s already hefty 1,950kg kerb-weight. As a result, the Targa won’t quite match the performance of the coupé version – the maximum speed will be limited to 217mph.
The wraps are expected to come off the Veyron Targa officially at a major motor show in 2009.
