The United Kingdom is aiming to attract an altogether different class of visitor with the launch of a new marketing campaign with Dubai-based airline Emirates.
A new marketing campaign dubbed “Britain. A tradition of Luxury” is unashamedly targeting wealthy individuals — those with over $1 million in disposable funds — to persuade them that Britain is worth visiting.
The campaign, which launched February 25, is being launched in China, India, Singapore and the United Arab Emirates, which includes Dubai and Abu Dhabi.


The most expensive streets in Britain can be found in South West London where the average price of a property is over five million pounds.
Parkside in Merton, just a short walk from Wimbledon’s All England Tennis Club, is named the most expensive residential street with an average price of £5,058,000.
More than half of the 20 most expensive streets in England and Wales are in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.

Aston Martin has been named the coolest brand in the UK, it has been revealed.
The carmaker has come top in the latest study by independent brand research firm Superbrands, which questioned more than 2,000 consumers.
However technology brands continue to lead the Superbrands Cool Brands survey with the rest of the top five spots taken by tech brands.
Apple’s iPhone takes second place, Blackberry is fourth and upmarket audio-visual brand Bang & Olufsen takes fifth place.


Gurcharn Sahota, a 30-year-old accountancy graduate, is offering the world’s most expensive car wash service in the UK – charging up to £7,200 per vehicle.
Mr Sahota, who lives with his parents in Derbyshire, has converted their double garage into a hi-tech workshop.
He has lined the walls and floor of the double unit with specialist tiles imported from Italy which help reflect flecks of dirt on the cars.
Each vehicle takes up to 250 hours to clean, and his premier service includes polishing and buffing every inch of the car inside and out five times.

British designers Priestmangoode have unveiled a conceptual high-speed train for the UK.
The London studio have created the design, entitled Mercury, in an attempt persuade the British government to advance the project.
Paul Priestman of Priestmangoode, designer of the iconic Virgin Pendolino train, believes that the new high speed train is vital for the future of Britain.


Mohammed Al Fayed has sold London department store Harrods to the Qatari royal family’s investment company for a reported £1.5bn ($2.3bn).
The Egypt-born tycoon acquired the business in Knightsbridge following a £615m takeover in 1985.
Ken Costa, an adviser to the deal with Qatar Holdings, said Mr Al Fayed was retiring “to spend more time with his children and grandchildren”.
