
Harry Winston Diamond Corp, the Canadian mining group which owns the jewelers, has this week announced plans to build a flagship store in Shanghai.
And it will be hard to miss, boasting a 12-meter high façade a company spokesman says will be like a “billboard to the world, a billboard to the Chinese people.”
The 460-square-meter flagship store — to be opened “before January” next year — will be supplemented by a salon inside the lobby of the Peninsula Shanghai hotel.


Luxury watch maker Hublot has opened its first boutique in the Western United States in Beverly Hills, California.
Internationally recognized as a luxury capital, Beverly Hills is home to the world’s most exclusive stores, with Rodeo Drive at its epicenter.
The Hublot Boutique Beverly Hills is located in the heart of the city’s most prestigious shopping district, on Brighton Way at Rodeo Drive.

The luxury UK brand Mulberry has moved its flagship boutique to 50 New Bond Street, only a few doors down from its previous address.
The new retail space reflects the brand’s ethical and ecological concerns features a loft-like warehouse vibe with vast open space and a bevy of freestanding fixtures.
The new 5,400-foot (501-square-meter) boutique sells accessories, travel and luggage goods, shoes, and women”s wear.

The Italian luxury house, which just opened a jewelry boutique in Beijing on December 10, has other imminent plans in the pipeline for China.
The company will debut a new retail concept before Christmas in the Village North, a shopping complex in Sanlitun, an affluent area filled with shops and eateries.
Additionally, Versace is planning to unveil another flagship in Shanghai’s Plaza 66 shopping center as well as another location in Zhengzhou, sometime in 2011.

Hublot opened its first flagship store in Beijing on Nov. 29, 2010 and announced Jet Lias the first Asian ambassador for its brand.
The new Hublot store in Beijing has an area of 100 square meters and is located at the entrance of Wangfujing Street in the Oriental Plaza, one of the most prosperous iconic shopping malls in downtown Beijing.
The flagship store in Beijing is the third Hublot boutique in China, following the first at Plaza 66 in Shanghai and the second at Intercontinental Hotel in Dalian.

Cartier, the number one luxury jewelry brand in China, continues to ramp up its presence in the Asian country with the opening of yet another flagship on Friday.
The new store, which spans 900 square meters (9,687 square feet), is housed inside the Prince’s Building — an upscale shopping center in Hong Kong.
The three-story boutique replaces Cartier’s old store — opened in 1970 — that was located on the ground floor of the same building.
